那有些忧伤的哼唱

屋檐上融雪垂落的声音

母亲依旧那样整日地操劳

The somewhat distressed humming

With pinks growing slowly on the windowsill
, w* x4 a; f( I8 l N" l Late winter snows float down twilight by twilight: Z; b% Y8 J( {( y7 ~! s4 m" Z9 }
To be heard in the solitude against the glass
% Y, N$ C1 E9 y And through the window illuminated by snowflakes+ C$ g3 j1 d7 h& x5 |$ D3 A
The old tree's crotches seem swarthier
- S4 H5 ~# M3 s' `; N And the sound of melting snow falling from the eaves m" ~$ y& M6 V" Q
Keeps me long from sleep
& S* X" \5 j1 z# C: ?) a% [ And in my youth: y/ k* ~9 R8 p, l2 @! _
I did not sleep till Mother, G0 ?, _# F/ I0 K+ I: ]
Having slaved daylong6 }1 v* t* s$ W+ e; N: ~3 _
From one room to the next
. A! n1 [1 C/ `! v* F! T9 q Tucked in my coverlet
0 U' h! i- _) s% T {- @2 ~ So the snowflakes gradually tuck in memory of the past* D& [4 N( g+ A6 X- z" i
And I faintly hear
I8 f$ [6 u8 Y+ j Twigs fall
3 p+ Q, t% n5 B* N And the kettle singing
) P1 \( x! E! Q4 h7 Q- d On the warm fire
