　　waiting for the No. 6 bus to discharge

( M9 N; D* i% n3 E2 Z& t) F' X  n* K　　the drunken mechanic and the clerk on crutches
　　who pauses before his building to watch
, y- I4 E6 r6 r+ x) e- u4 |　　the mechanic lose three dollars at blackjack

　　and sitting down at the table
　　on which this morning he placed

　　waving shyly by the edge of a lake

　　passengers on the polished deck

　　the cypresses lining the shore
　　and the pink palazzi with ancient gardens

3 i2 ?2 o' [! E  D2 |/ P　　who seem to live upon the water
( P8 s0 Z; l/ s8 I) _+ R2 ]　　gliding among themselves oblivious to strife
& r# ^( _9 G0 L8 S　　and all else that wears a body down
2 f" R/ w2 k: E! T1 e# Y( m　　some sipping from crystal goblets
% g; p; u6 A  T　　others just drinking in the light
